Chapter 14: Saying Goodbye

Ms. Josey told Evelyn to go to the hospital since the babysitter was not there, but she didn't ask her granddaughter to walk. She explained what she needed to do, and where she needed to get off. Evelyn did as she was told.

At the hospital, Mary was surprised to see Evelyn, but she remained silent.

She walked slowly, and both of them rode the bus without talking to one another.
